How to find any chord
Our interactive chord chart is the perfect tool for learning a wide variety of guitar and string instrument chords. Use it to find chords, understand finger positioning, and discover the notes and intervals that make each chord unique.
Finding a specific guitar chord
The root note appears in the top-left corner, with "C" as the default. Change it by clicking and selecting a new root note from the menu.
Chord type (such as major or minor) is in the top-right corner. Click to choose a different chord type.
Understanding the chord chart
Once you've set the root and type, the chart displays the chord voicing.
Numbered dots - Finger placement
The dots across the frets tell you where your fingers go with each dot numbered to correspond with your fingers
1 = Index finger
2 = Middle finger
3 = Ring finger
4 = Little finger
T = Thumb
‘𝝬’ / ‘O’ - Mute / Play strings
Empty circles above zero fret indicate open strings, and crosses tell you which strings to avoid playing.
Chord display settings
Click the lower left button to toggle between fingering (123), note names (ABC), and intervals (IV).

Palm muting: Use it to add rhythm and texture.
Learn barre chords: Essential for expanding your sound.
